Abstract Market research conducted over the Internet offers some widely accepted advantages over other quantitative data collection options. It is far less expensive than either mail or telephone surveys and results can be available much faster. However, given the many unknowns about how to interpret electronic survey responses, Karl Irons, president at NPD Online Research, says that in terms of accuracy, the Internet is the least favorable choice for marketing research presently, but will increase in popularity over time. Other market research items of interest are discussed.
